Decorative ceiling panels
The project we were assigned to design and construct was a decorative ceiling panel system. The installation took place in the main room of a physiotherapy laboratory. Its use is not only decorative, but also functional.
The main goal was to create a pleasant environment for the users. Our client, the physiotherapist, wished to make the room optically vivid! He also wished to reduce the feeling that you are in a large linear room and to improve the acoustics of the room. In this room, in which the fitness equipment is installed, there is not too much noise nor crowd, but therefore the users were not feeling good because of the echo.
So, the best solution was to design panels that would be hanged from the ceiling, would be colorful in vivid colors and would be installed close to the ceiling in order to preserve the height of the room.
For this idea, we were inspired by the cubist paintings of the famous artist Piet Mondrian. We applied his thoughts and style to the geometry of the installation as well as to the colors of it. The outcome was a geometric composition in colorful panels, suspended from the ceiling. Moreover, this composition was combined with linear lightings, which are not installed yet.
The wooden surfaces, which were constructed in our workshop, are suspended from the ceiling with wooden supports. Then they were coated with felt in colors yellow, red and gray. The use of soft materials such as fabric and foam resulted in the reduction of the echo of the room.
