Alphabet tracing board
The alphabet tracing board was designed in our workshop, according to the guidelines a pre- school teacher gave to us. This board can be used by young children as well as by children in special needs. They can practice their fine movement that leads to writing.
The material of the board is plywood. On the surface we engraved the capital Greek letters with our cnc router. Also we constructed a wooden stylus, instead of a pen, so the children follow the engraved lines to form the letters.
The object gives the opportunity to the children to practice the pre- writing movements and at the same time they are getting familiar with the Greek alphabet. As a result, learning is achieved during play and by children’s senses (Montessori system). This way of learning is more interesting, pleasant and close to the children’s abilities.
Additionally, toddlers could use the tracing board as well. By practicing, they are not only getting familiar with the Greek language and memorize the letters, but mostly, it is easiest for them to form syllabus, make verbal associations with the letters and practice their memory.
